about

A track I recorded for a friend.

lyrics

She loves everything that breathes
As long as it has four or less legs.
Has fur, or scales or very smooth skin.
Or flies around on beautiful wings.

She spends all of her time
Trying to keep every little thing alive.
And if she fails, her world is turned upside down.
And it takes a week or two for her to come around.

CHORUS:
This girl was born to be a mother
She loves her son with all her heart
She's loved him from the very start.
This girl used to be my lover.
She doesn't always know just what she wants.
But she wants the best for her son.

She used to be so afraid
Back at the young age of sixteen
That her womb would never hold a baby.
And I promised her that she'd have kids someday.

(chorus)

I had always hoped
That she and I could just elope.
Start a family somewhere else on the globe.
But it's looking as though I'm traveling this road alone.

(chorus)

I always wanted to ask her,
"What's worse? A broken family or a loveless one?"
I will never forget when she said,
"I wish this was us."

(chorus)
